If you thought that Dignitas QNTMPAY parting ways with Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett meant he’d fade into obscurity, think again — this seasoned veteran jungler has just been signed by ICM Stellar Esports, a European sports management agency. If you’re scratching your head right now, know that you’re not the only one.

“Now for a HUGE announcement, We’ve signed @Dardoch ! With an undoubtable abundance of talent and leadership qualities Dardoch’s next steps will for sure be his biggest yet. We look forward to supporting him through the next steps of his career.”

Naturally, the biggest question regarding this whole deal is: why? Why would a North American jungler — one who is known for his bad temper — sign for a European sports management agency? What does he stand to gain, given that he’s probably not a hot commodity after getting dropped by so many different organizations throughout his career? Is he perhaps looking to move across the Atlantic and potentially find a bit of redemption? Or is this just a puzzling PR stunt, one that won’t result in anything concrete and worthy of mentioning?

Well, it can mean a myriad of different things, and all we can do right now is hypothesize. Right now, at the time of this writing, the most plausible idea would be that Dardoch is looking to compete in one of the European Regional Leagues. Just writing such a sentence makes one feel strange. Who would’ve thought? On paper it makes no sense whatsoever, and yet it reality — given the trajectory of his career — it might just be what the doctor ordered.

He’s a very talented player and he’s been through it all (for better and worse). A middle-of-the-pack ERL team would surely love to have him, even with the immense risk that comes with signing such an infamous player. Moreover, Dardoch can still compete at the highest of levels and could, by all means, find redemption over in Europe. It’s not the most logical of choices, you’ll probably agree, but it’s so crazy that it might just work.

Hopefully we’ll get an update in the coming days and weeks as this whole saga seems to be getting more and more interesting by the minute!
