Datamined Halo Infinite medals may point to more multiplayer modes

The likes of Infection and King of the Hill could be coming to Halo Infinite if a list of datamined medals is to be believed.

Despite the success and popularity of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer, fans couldn’t help but be disappointed by the lack of certain modes. 343 Industries add the highly requested Slayer mode earlier this month and now it’s suspected that a few other modes will be making a return.

HaloDotAPI on Twitter recently datamined Halo Infinite and found several new medals, which are awarded for completing certain achievements in the campaign and multiplayer. Most of them appear to be brand new, but a few point to certain modes from previous games.

For example, the Clash of Kings medal is likely connected to the King of the Hill mode, which has been in every mainline Halo game since the first one and has players fight for control of a specific area.

Two others, Undead Hunter and Zombie Slayer, can only be associated with the Infection mode, which is the Halo series’ take on a zombie mode. It was introduced in Halo 3 and pits a team of survivors against a team of zombies. If a survivor is killed, they become a zombie too.

The dataminer also claims to have found evidence of the Multi Team mode for Slayer, which splits players into multiple teams. Considering 343 has already promised to expand on the basic Slayer playlist, it’s easy to believe that Multi Team is on the way.

Currently, there’s no official roadmap of content for Halo Infinite. While the multiplayer is guaranteed to be expanded upon over the coming months, the specifics remain a mystery.

Aside from the multiplayer, 343 has yet to include a co-op option for the main campaign or the Forge mode. The plan is to have the former release alongside the multiplayer’s second season, which won’t happen until May at the earliest.

The Forge mode, which lets players create and customise their own multiplayer maps, will then arrive with season 3, but there’s no estimated release date for it yet.

Halo Infinite is available for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
