Death Stranding: Extended Edition for PS5 and PS4 to Feature New Story Content

Kojima Productions and Sony may reveal Death Stranding: Extended Edition for PS5 and PS4 soon. The rumoured re-release of 2019’s dystopian delivery simulator reportedly contains new story content as well. According to Navtra, a known leaker with a solid track record on popular gaming forum ResetEra (via VG247), Death Stranding: Extended Edition is going to be more than your average re-release when a date is eventually made public.

“Death Stranding: Extended edition coming to PS4 and PS5? Just want to confirm if what I got told is true,” asked one user to which Navtra responded with “yup’”.

“Even if there’s an upgrade path I think it will be paid since there’s new story content in this version” Navtra explained.

Keep in mind that Sony and Kojima Productions have not said anything just yet, making this speculation and rumour at this point. So take this information with a grain of salt until we get an official announcement.

That said, we won’t be surprised to see this happen. When at Konami, Hideo Kojima often re-released Metal Gear Solid games with extra content and features. While Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain: The Definitive Experience was threadbare in this department, likely due to Kojima’s acrimonious split from Konami, perhaps the Death Stranding: Extended Edition is a way of making amends to long-time fans seeking a substantial add-on to Death Stranding’s core game.

For what it’s worth, Death Stranding is one of our favourite PS4 games of all time for its solid gameplay mechanics, inventive story, and fantastic music. It’ll be interesting to see how Death Stranding: Extended Edition improves on this in any meaningful way.
