Time-twisting shooter Deathloop is officially coming to Xbox Series X|S next week – and launching straight onto Xbox Game Pass.
The news was announced as part of Xbox’s showing at this year’s Tokyo Game Show event. Japanese fans were treated to an appearance from developer Arkane showing off the game at the end of the stream.

The Xbox version will include all the updates released for the game so far. That includes photomode, more accessibility options, cross-play matchmaking and loads of quality of life fixes.
If that wasn’t enough, there’ll also be a brand new GOLDENLOOP update for the game. This new content includes a brand new ability, new weapons and even an extended ending for the game.
These updates will also be available for the PlayStation 5 and existing PC versions of the game as well. The full game will also be available on PlayStation Plus via the Extra and Premium tiers on the same day.
Deathloop Xbox Game Pass release date
Deathloop arrives on Xbox Game Pass for Xbox Series X|S and PC, as well as via the Cloud on Tuesday, September 20. You can pre-load the game on your console right now.
The Xbox and PC versions sold through the Microsoft Store also support cross-save, allowing you to continue your progress right where you left off on either of those two.
Deathloop Xbox Game Pass – GOLDENLOOP update details and more
The new ability is called Fugue, and is a projectile that can slow and confuse targets. It has four upgrades, which are as follows:
- Coda: Extended duration
- Earworm: Cast a Fugue “mine” on a surface
- Discord: Target becomes hostile toward its allies
- Syncopation: On target’s death, Fugue affects nearby enemies
The new weapon meanwhile, is the HALPS Prototype. It’s an energy weapon, shooting a powerful laser beam that can bounce off turrets and security cameras for extra style.
There’ll be a new enemy to contend with, however, in the form of the Paint Bomber. They’re fond of running right at you while tied to explosive paint cans. Keep your distance!
Those playing the game’s Invasion mode can also look forward to new upgrades for Julianna’s Masquerade ability.
- Ensemble: Target up to three NPCs with Masquerade
- Mend: Regenerate health while using Masquerade on an NPC
- Expose: When an NPC affected by Masquerade dies or spots Colt, Colt is automatically tagged
- Incognito: Damage taken while using Masquerade is converted to Energy
Finally, there’s also 19 new 2-in-1 trinkets added to the game, combining the abilities of two existing ones. Lovely. And that’s on top of the new secrets that are also teased – but you’ll have to find those yourself. (One includes the new extended ending.)
We enjoyed Deathloop a lot when it released last year as a PlayStation exclusive. Check out our review here.
