Ever since Xbox announced the unexpected and massive deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard, things haven’t been the same in the gaming community. Especially for those gamers who have been hardcore followers of the PlayStation console with regard to one specific franchise, Call of Duty.

Although Xbox Game Studios’ head Phil Spencer had come out and offered assurance that Call of Duty would remain on PlayStation, fans aren’t satisfied just yet.
Had good calls this week with leaders at Sony. I confirmed our intent to honor all existing agreements upon acquisition of Activision Blizzard and our desire to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation. Sony is an important part of our industry, and we value our relationship.

And now, one recently discovered incident just fueled the ongoing Xbox-PlayStation war even further.
DIVE DEEPER
Will Call of Duty become Xbox exclusive or stick to PlayStation?
Recently, it was noticed by the Twitter account named HazzadorGamin that a retail store was issuing a warning to PlayStation buyers. It was due to the recently announced deal of Microsoft acquiring Activision.
While there was the mention of the news, the store had also written Call of Duty below it. The notice/warning basically implies that those who wish to purchase PlayStation, now, must remember that the gaming series might become an exclusive franchise of Xbox. This is due to the possibility of the franchise moving from PlayStation to Xbox-only.
Apparently some retail store across globe have started putting up Notice for customers of Call of Duty.

Interestingly, however, Phil Spencer already made a simplification over such uncertainties. A week ago he had revealed Call of Duty will remain on PlayStation, after having interactions with the leaders at Sony.
But the latest ‘warning’ notice has sparked a new debate among the fans who are once again divided. Some of them don’t agree with this as they think it’s fake because Call of Duty is sticking to PlayStation and that it won’t become strictly an exclusive for just Xbox consoles.
Others, however, don’t have a problem at all if a retail store is trying to inform the buyers. According to those who are defending this approach, Call of Duty may become purely Xbox exclusive after the deal is complete. And that’s why the stores might be doing this to let the consumers know of the future uncertainties.
As soon as the image was shared online, Xbox and PlayStation fans of Call of Duty began expressing their views on this matter.
This is stupid. The deal isn’t even closed yet & there’s still 2 CODs left in the contract. If I were Sony, I’d be pissed at this

That’s really stupid. Whatever happens Phil Spencer has said he’d like to keep COD on PlayStation whatever happens. This is scaremongering.

The warning is there because people who buy the console for CoD and don’t really care on which console they play can choose the console that is more likely to have the newest CoD even in 5 years.

It makes perfect sense, to inform the customers. Not everyone is following gaming news

Ok that’s actually a great idea nice whoever thought to put this sign up is smart to make sure people get they long term cod machine and not the machine that we don’t know will future cod games after the deal is complete aka PlayStation
