The Water Hashira Giyu Tomioka in action in the new Demon Slayer game set with a 2021 release date.
On March 1, CyberConnect2 and Aniplex revealed a new trailer for Kimetsu no Yaiba Hinokami Keppuutan, the upcoming 2021 Demon Slayer game on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Steam, this time with new gameplay for the Water Hashira, Giyu Tomioka.
The trailer features a battle between Giyu Tomioka and Inosuke Hashibira. Giyu has several attacks and aerial combos at his disposal, using his Water Breathing technique.
The silent master swordsman who led Tanjiro into the Demon Slayer Corps looks like one of the more technical characters in the game. It looks like Giyu also has counter skills of sorts, like Inosuke, which means this could actually be something multiple characters can do to a certain extent.
Lastly, at the end of the trailer, Giyu Tomioka activates his super move, Eleventh Form: Dead Calm. However, it’s interesting to note he does that while being hit by Inosuke, meaning his super has some kind of armor when being activated.
This would make sense as in the original manga and anime, Giyu can deflect any incoming attack when using Dead Calm. This is only conjecture though. While several trailers have been released, CyberConnect2 has yet to actually detail on paper any of the gameplay mechanics. Besides the Tag Battle system.
So far, trailers for Tanjiro, for Nezuko, for Inosuke, and for Zenitsu were revealed. CyberConnect2 already confirmed more playable characters will be revealed soon.
