The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One X set a certain time on the previous console cycle; in addition to the new platform, the console generation would come with more powerful hardware that limited the lifecycle of the consoles, but also gave it a lot better view. There has been a lot of speculation that Microsoft and Sony will both replicate that with their current generation of hardware- and as per a new report, this is already out there.
As per known Rockstar Insider Tez2 on the GTA Forums, development kits of the PS5 Pro (or whatever it turns out to be called) and the mid-generation Xbox-Series hardware upgrade are already available for developers. The insider suggested that the latter was speculation or based on concrete details.
Developers tend to get developers on developing kits many times ahead of their official releases, so it would be a surprise if that was true. If these hardware upgrades go into play sometime in 2024, then there’ll be roughly a similar gap between PS4 and Xbox One X and their respective bases consoles.
In his report on Insider-Gaming, journalist Tom Henderson said this alleged PS5 pro console isn’t the same as the one that he has rumoured to launch next year, which will add a detachable disc drive to that device. In a recent report, Henderson also claimed that Sony expects that new PS5 model to be the biggest driver behind its projected expected expected 30 million shipments in the next fiscal year.
In fact, earlier this year, TCL Technology suggested that the PS5 and the Xbox series will likely launch in 2023 or 2024. Read here, then.
