Device Reportedly Paid Portion of His Transfer Fee to NIP When Leaving Astralis

Last year, the departure of Nicolai “device” Reedtz from Astralis to Ninjas in Pyjamas (NIP) had made a lot of noise across the CS:GO community. Unfortunately, his time with the Swedish esports organization was turbulent as he faced problems in his personal life which started affecting his performance in the server.

Device decided to take a break from competitive CS:GO in December last year and has been away from the circuit ever since. Recently, reports surfaced that the 27-year-old wanted to return back to Astralis and that a deal had supposedly been struck with NIP for a sum of €600,000 EUR ($584,700 USD).

Now, a new report from Jaxon has come forward claiming that during his initial transfer from Astralis to NIP, device had actually paid about €130,000 EUR ($155,424 USD) from his own pocket to close the deal.

Report: Device paid €130,000 EUR out of his own pocket to NIP during transfer from Astralis

Last year in April, device had moved from Astralis to NIP for a reported sum of around 4.5 million DKK ($700,000 USD), according to the half-year finance report (January to June) of the Danish esports organization.

It seems that device might have paid a significant portion of this transfer fee, as per recent reports. The alleged sum is around €130,000 EUR which translates to about 1.0 million DKK, roughly a quarter of his overall buyout amount.

He paid this amount out of his own pocket by allegedly sacrificing his own payment that he was entitled to, states Jaxon. This amount was supposedly a combination of his salary and sticker money, generated from the sales of the stickers released alongside the CS:GO Major.

The transfer was completed but sadly device’s tenure with NIP was far from effective as he faced personal issues which resulted in him not being able to perform to the best of his abilities.

After just eight months on the active roster, device in December last year decided to take a break to concentrate on his mental wellbeing and has been away from the competitive circuit ever since.

Now, almost ten months later he has reportedly expressed the desire to return back to his former team, Astralis, and negotiations have been allegedly taking place between the two organizations to settle on the finer details of the agreement.

It remains to be seen if device actually ends up returning to Astralis and do we get to see him compete this season or does he postpone his return to 2023.
