It feels like everything is going multi-platform these days, and that includes streaming services: They’re not just available to watch on the TV, tablet, or phone anymore, but on video game consoles, too. As part of a “relaunch,” according to Disney, Disney+ is now available to stream via PlayStation 5, assuming you’re able to get your hands on one of the elusive gaming devices.
There’s no other major news here: Everything on Disney+ will simply be available to access via your handy video game console, whether you’re after a classic Disney film, a Star Wars adventure, National Geographic documentary, or the emotional rollercoaster ride that is every Pixar film.
This isn’t all that Disney+ has in the works: The streaming service will launch an ad-supported version on Dec. 8 that makes you sit through ads, but is $3 cheaper per month than the usual $11, now-ad-free subscription tier.
If you don’t have a PS5, good luck, but you can at least request an invitation to order one from Amazon. The next time they have ‘em in stock, you’ll get a notification yours is on its way.
The ability to stream on PS5 means you can watch Disney+ pretty much anywhere now: The service also streams on PS4, and Xboxes One, X, and S, plus Amazon, Android, and Apple tablets, so there are plenty of ways to catch the service’s latest and greatest. Check out all the ways to watch, and sign up for a membership on Disney+ now.
