From Software is reportedly too busy supporting its latest open-world RPG, Elden Ring, with post-launch support that it has little time to actively work on anything related to Bloodborne at the moment. This is according to renowned insider Jeff Grubb, who stated that the code used to develop Bloodborne is “problematic” in a way that Sony wouldn’t be able to assign a remaster or PC port to any other studio.
Speaking on the recent Xbox Expansion Pass podcast, Grubb talked a bit about Bloodborne and the problematic nature of actually making a remaster, remake or PC port. The game’s code is something only From Software would be able to realistically work with, so assigning the task to another studio would prove pretty difficult.
MORE BLOODBORNE – Fake Bloodborne Remastered PS5 News Confuses Social Media
Given that From Software is currently working hard on Elden Ring post-launch support and possibly an expansion, there’s not much time for the acclaimed Japanese developer to return to Sony and update Bloodborne, be it through an enhanced release or even a sequel.
While it’s possible that Sony could simply assign the duties for a sequel to another capable studio (e.g. Bluepoint), many fans agree that without From Software, it might not be able to live up to its lofty expectations right now.
Perhaps Sony realised how difficult it would be to properly update Bloodborne without From Software. That might explain why news about its return has been non-existent.
In related news, several leakers have come forth stating that we shouldn’t expect Bloodborne any time soon as there aren’t any related projects currently in development, be it a PS5 update or a remaster/remake and PC port. From Software has its hands full with Elden Ring right now, which is widely considered the studio’s best game and one of the best games of 2022.
Elden Ring is currently available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
