Dundee gaming champion and top cop among local 2022 New Years Honours recipients

One of Dundee’s early gaming education pioneers will be made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in this year’s New Years Honours List.

Paul Durrant, who pioneered the city’s Dare To Be Digital game development competition, is being named an OBE for his contribution to the UK’s videogames industry.

The Dare competition was founded to foster gaming talent from across the UK, bringing students from across the world to Dundee’s Abertay University to compete for a special BAFTA “Ones to Watch” gong.

Durrant has since established UK Games Talent and Finance CIC to support start-ups across the UK looking to get into the business of making games.
