Rumours about Microsoft’s acquisition of Techland just won’t go away. The latest one states that Dying Light 2 could be timed exclusive for Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
Several months ago, a rumour surfaced online, stating that Microsoft are looking to acquire Techland, the developer of Call of Juarez and Dying Light games. We never got an official confirmation but these rumours just won’t go away.
Recently, a well-known YouTuber ACG revealed in
the Defining Duke podcast
that Microsoft are working on another major acquisition which includes AAA exclusive and a big studio. He did not want to reveal the name of the exclusive and the studio but other Xbox sources reveal that he talked about Techland and Dying Light 2.
The latest rumour, which has been found by Twitter user MalikLabz, reveals that the game has been in development hell for a long time, which is something that
has been revealed by an anonymous dev
. Apparently, Microsoft have jumped in with funds to help the development of the game and in return, the game will be an exclusive for Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
According to the same rumour, the game is expected to launch this year but until we get more info about this, we suggest you take everything with a grain of salt, just like with any other unconfirmed reports.
Dying Light 2 was already announced as a multi-platform title, coming to PlayStation, PC and Xbox. Recently, we got a leak of Dying Light 2’s Collector’s Edition, which revealed boxed versions for all three platforms, which suggests the game may not be a full exclusive for Xbox but it would be a huge win for Xbox even if it’s only a timed one.
Dying Light 2 is rumoured to be coming sometime this year.
