El-Shaddai Ascension of the Metatron is a 2011 game that was a touchstone of Japanese game development during the era of the PS3 and Xbox 360. The game developed and published by UTV Ignition in 2011 featured famed character designer and artist Sawaki Takeyasu lead the development of a video game based on the pre-Christian Book of Enoch that was praised for its visuals and smooth, enjoyable gameplay. To celebrate the forthcoming Japanese launch of the previously announced Steam port of the game, two unique events will be held via NicoNco Douga.
The first event is a 24 hour loop of all of the cutscenes and dialogue recorded for the game starting from Midnight JST September 1st. The second event, being held on September 2nd Japan time will feature voice actor Ryota Takeuchi (role of Lucifiel) and the game’s creator Sawaki Takeyasu playing the game and talking amongst themselves, recounting their memories of working on the project.
Crunchyroll News previously reviewed the game in 2011 and our own Joeseph Luster effusively praised the game, noting the above average and intuitive controls along with the game’s action packed nature. The game will be released on Steam starting on Wednesday September 1st and feature support for multiple languages including English.
