Elden Ring PS5 PS4 Servers Down February 28, March 1

The Elden Ring PS5 and PS4 multiplayer servers will be down for an hour on February 28 (or March 1 depending on your timezone) due to maintenance. The PlayStation servers will be the first to undergo the update in order to “improve some multiplayer functions”.

When will the Elden Ring PS5 and PS4 servers be offline?

The Elden Ring PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 servers will be taken offline at 6:00pm-7:00pm PST today, February 28. In other timezones, this is 3:00am-4:00am CET or 11:00am-12:00pm JST on March 1. None of the game’s online functions will be available during this time, including co-op play, invasions, or the in-game messaging service. However, players will still be able to play the game offline.

Both PC and Xbox platforms will also undergo maintenance after the PlayStation downtime has ended. Xbox will follow at 7:00pm-8:00pm PST while Steam will finish the scheduled maintenance between 8:00pm-9:00pm PST. Despite being one of the highest rated games on Metacritic, Elden Ring didn’t launch without any issues. One of the most prominent PlayStation problems is a PS5 save data issue, but it’s not believed this update will fix the issue.

The only reason given for the maintenance is to “improve some multiplayer functions” although we don’t have any specifics as to what this entails. Patch notes will perhaps follow shortly after the maintenance, but hopefully the update goes some way to preventing the Network Status Check Failed error messages some players have been receiving while attempting to connect for co-op play.

In other news, four games will be added to PlayStation Now tomorrow, March 1. As well as Shadow Warrior 3 joining the service as a day one release, there will be Crysis Remastered, Relicta and Chicken Police – Paint It Red! too. Elsewhere, Elden Ring has topped the UK retail game charts and has pushed Horizon Forbidden West into second place.
