ESPORTS EXPLANATION — Obion County Central High School mechatronics teacher Mitchell Williamson (left) and Obion County Schools co-technology coordinator Joe Lewis shared details of a unique high school esports program with the Obion County School Board during its near hour-long session Monday night at South Fulton Middle/High School. Esports, derived from the phrase “electronic sports,” is the organized competitive side of video gaming. It allows players to be part of a safe, structured environment where they can grow as both a player and a person. Games are played shortly after school against other high school teams.
