eSports Kicks Off Inaugural 2021-22 Season

UNION, N.J. (10/1/21) – The Kean University eSports team kicked off their inaugural 2021-22 season with multiple events this past week.

On Tuesday, Kean Kerberos and Kean Hydra fell to Sacramento State (2-0) and Wake Forest (2-1) in Valorant. In Rainbow Six action, Kean dropped a match to New York Tech, 2-0.
In sports games action, Kean forfeited to Saint Thomas Aquinas in NBA2K21 and fell to Bethel in FIFA 21, 2-0.

On Wednesday, Justin Peters, Jacob Ullman and Konrad Olech earned the program’s first victory with a 3-1 decision over Bethel in Rocket League.   

On Thursday, Kean swept the evening with victories in Super Smash Bros, Overwatch and Madden 21. Kean Gaia (Brodie Berger, Andre Gray and James Hoenings) defeated Saint Francis (Pa.), 2-0 in Super Smash Bros, while Kean Atlas (Edger Gonzalez, Giovani Edmond and Kenneth Patrick) defeated Bryant also in Super Smash Bros (2-0).

In Overwatch action, Jhordy Jaramillo, Chelsea Pelley, Cristiana De Sousa, Danny Gavino, Jerry Howard and Leo Wang defeated the University of Kentucky, 3-0.

In Madden 21 action, Yahir Castelan-Flores defeated Saint Joseph’s, 2-0
