The Greater Essex Virtual School is hosting an Esports championship for elementary and high school students this Wednesday.

The GEVS Rocket League championships can be seen live on the Twitch TV channel of the St. Clair Saints Varsity Esports team. The Saints and a new gaming organization, 1Dream Esports, are working with GEVS to host the event.

The first of three championship matches will be broadcast live at 3:30 p.m. on twitch.tv/saintsgamingca.

The first two matches will feature virtual elementary school teams and the third match will be the virtual high school championship. St. Clair Esports Administration students will call the play-by-play of each game.

1Dream Esports has teamed with GEVS to launch a pilot program to offer Rocket League competitions for students at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic has limited sports opportunities.

1Dream Esports is a new Windsor-based non-profit with a goal of organizing gaming competitions for students throughout Canada.

It will open registration soon for a Playstation or Xbox Madden Tournament hosted by Windsor native and recently retired Dallas Cowboy Tyrone Crawford.

Crawford has joined the board for 1Dream Esports.
