Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty gets a new demo that introduces players to the battle system, but fans have limited time to complete it.

PlayStation and Xbox users can now download a demo of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty that gives them a taste of the battle system and the combat mechanics. Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is an action game developed by Team Ninja, the developers of Ninja Gaiden, Nioh, and the recently released Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty’s demo is now available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, but is strangely absent on PC. This demo is only available till Sunday, September 25, so players will have around 10 days to complete it. According to Team Ninja, it showcases the battle system of Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty while also giving gamers a glimpse at the character creator, online multiplayer, and other important features.

Users who complete the demo will get access to the “Crouching Dragon Helmet” special item when the full game launches next year. Team Ninja is also asking for player feedback via a survey available in the demo, and fans who complete it will receive an original wallpaper. Alongside the demo’s release, Team Ninja has shared a video that includes tips for players to get started with Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.

The video is around 5 minutes long and gives users an overview of the gameplay mechanics and the design of the battle system. It looks like fans of the Souls-like genre will feel right at home when they try out Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. It begins by showing off the character creator, which looks similar to the one found in Nioh 2. According to the video, players will be given stats, magic, and equipment depending upon the Phase they select, and the user chooses Fire Phase before showing the gameplay.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty lets users sneak behind enemies or take them out from above. It also comes with a jump button, allowing players to reach different parts of the level without altering nearby enemies. The character then places a flag at a designated spot which functions like a shrine from the Nioh series.

Combat in Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is fast-paced with a big emphasis on parrying attacks. The video also goes over the various gameplay mechanics and other systems players need to be aware of when engaging in combat or exploring the world. Judging by the footage shown, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty does feel like a spiritual successor to the Nioh series, one that builds upon and hopefully improves the gameplay of Team Ninja’s previous titles.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty releases in early 2023 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
