EA will let FIFA 22 players customise and play as female characters in the game’s pro clubs mode for the first time in franchise history. News of the addition was broken by Eurogamer, who state that FIFA 22’s Pro Clubs mode “lets you create and play as a woman virtual pro.”
Along with the announcement, the site also posted a short video showing footage from a pro clubs match focusing on a female character.
FIFA 22 will let players customise a female virtual pro and then take the character to play in mixed 11v11 matches. It’s definitely nice to see the franchise embrace more inclusivity, starting with including the franchise’s first ever female commentator in Alex Scott. The site notes that EA hasn’t commented on the inclusion of women’s clubs yet.
With EA planning to expand its sports franchises even further, it looks like the developer will have to start taking inclusivity more seriously in the future to attract even more players.
FIFA 22 comes out on October 1, 2021 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch. The game’s standard edition will cost Rs. 2,999 on PC, Rs. 3,999 on PS4 and Xbox One, Rs. 4,499 on the new PS5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles and Rs. 2,499 on the Nintendo Switch.
