Lock and load your Pulse Rifle, Marine! The announcement trailer for Aliens: Fireteam has landed, showing what looks to be the co-op shooter we have all hoped to experience in Ridley Scott’s brutal universe. The first thing you can clearly see in the trailer above is that the game aims to make your fight feel as claustrophobic as possible. That’s one of the main points of the franchise: not being able to escape the Xenomorph threat is what builds the tension and leads to butt-clenching moments. Not to worry, though, as you will always have your trusty Pulse Rifle, or your pick from more than 30 other weapons, along with another 70+ mods and attachments. There will be five classes to choose from — Gunner, Demolisher, Technician, Doc, and Recon — and each will have their own special abilities and perks.
In this cooperative third-person shooter, you and your Colonial Marine team will be tasked with eradicating the Xenomorph threat from the USS Endeavor, 23 years after the events of original film trilogy. That’s probably not going to be very easy when you will face over 20 enemy types, including 11 different types of Xenomorph, from Face Huggers to Praetorians. This is definitely one game to keep on your radar, or motion sensor. See what I did there?
Aliens: Fireteam has some big shoes to fill, being the first game set in the Alien universe since Alien: Isolation, which was a complete success and restored the franchise’s reputation amongst gamers. It’s also the first game focused on the Colonial Marines since… well, Aliens: Colonial Marines, and you don’t need us to tell you how that turned out. From the Alpha gameplay we can see in the trailer, it looks like Cold Iron Studios is out to show what a game based around the Colonial Marines can and should be.
We will keep you updated with all news surrounding Aliens: Fireteam while we wait for its release this summer on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. Excited? Scared? Cautiously optimistic? Still not over Colonial Marines? Let us know down below!
