Skate 4 Playtesting
According to respected industry insider Tom Henderson, Skate 4 has entered the playtesting phase on Origin.
Writing for Exputer, Henderson revealed that: “Sources have said that the game is well into its QA phase, which is news that can now be revealed via Origin’s API. Under the name ‘Project Dingo’ the title has now started active internal playtesting via Origin, as can be seen below.”
There’s still currently no indication as to when Skate 4 will actually be getting a retail release, but this is promising news for players.
Gamers have been reacting to the latest leaks for the game on r/GamingLeaksandRumours, with many excited at the prospect of potentially getting the game sooner rather than later.
One Redditor noted: “Hope it’ll be great. been wanting a new Skate game since Skate 3, and have been playing Session and Skater XL to fill the gap on waiting.”
Other players however would question why EA is going with the name ‘skate.’ rather than Skate 4: “Why wouldn’t they want to name it Skate 4? What’s bad in making a sequel after 12-13 years? It’s a sports/arcade game. It’s better to just put a number there than to make ANOTHER reboot with the exact same title as the first game in the series…”
Another gamer agreed with the sentiment, writing: “I agree, Red Dead Redemption II sold very well even though a lot of people who bought that game in 2018 had never even played the first game.
“I do think some publishers are afraid to name their game with a number because they don’t want people to be confused, and not buy the game because they haven’t played the previous games. If you call it ‘Modern Warfare; you will be able to convince everyone to play it (new and old fans).”
We will hopefully get more information on the return of the iconic series in the coming months with expectations rising for a potential Skate 4 release in 2022.
