Just as October rolls in, Microsoft’s Games with Gold have refreshed to offer the recently announced bonus games for the month. Just as scheduled, Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members are now able to claim the first wave of titles, them being Aaero for Xbox One and Castlevania: Harmony of Despair for Xbox 360.
These games include backward compatibility support, allowing newer Xbox consoles to also natively play them. Aaero is available to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S owners, while Castlevania: Harmony of Despair Collection is playable across both those console families as well as the Xbox 360.
Use the links below while using a Gold-active Microsoft account to directly claim the games:
Aaero (Xbox One)
Speed through stunning, stylised environments tracing ribbons of light, releasing the energy in the music. Battle strange enemies and fight epic boss battles all driven by an incredible licensed soundtrack.
Castlevania: Harmony of Despair (Xbox 360)
Step into the shadows of the hell house: Castlevania is back in all its pixel-powered 2D glory, this time in full 1080p! Call upon the series’ most hallowed heroes and vanquish your nemesis, Dracula! All-new multiplayer modes like 6-player Co-op and Survival have been whipped up for you, too… but enough talk. Have at it!
For those who missed it, Mulaka from the final September Games with Gold lineup still has two weeks left on its freebie counter, so grab it while it’s still available. It will be replaced by a copy of Hover on October 15.
Games claimed through these promotions are attached to accounts in different ways depending on the original platforms. Games with Gold Xbox 360 titles will continue being playable even after the Gold subscription is discontinued, but Xbox One games are only playable while the account has an active subscription.
