Games with Gold October 2022 will be the first month that does not contain any free games sourced from the Xbox 360 era. That doesn’t mean the service has ended, but it will simply focus on providing Xbox One titles from now on.
Gold will continue alongside Xbox Game Pass in October and beyond, having lost one of its most unique features. But it will continue to share free trials with Game Pass, as well as other discount opportunities through Deals With Gold.
And while Games with Gold has now limited its scope on Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles, Xbox Game Pass is the membership service to propel Microsoft into the future.

New Era Starts With Games With Gold October 2022
2013 saw the beginning of Games with Gold, including free Xbox 360 titles as part of its lineup. However, while this has remained consistent for nearly nine years, Microsoft confirmed that there would be no more classic games included in its future offerings.
This starts with the Games With Gold October 2022 lineup, with the tech giant confirming in a recent statement:
“Beginning October 1, 2022, the monthly games provided to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Live Gold members via Games with Gold will no longer include Xbox 360 titles.
“This will not impact any Xbox 360 games that you downloaded before October 2022. Any Xbox 360 Games with Gold titles that you redeem via Games with Gold are yours to keep on your Xbox account, regardless of whether you continue your subscription. Furthermore, Games with Gold will continue to include Xbox One titles each month.”
Everything else will remain the same, including free Xbox One games being offered each month, alongside paid multiplayer as part of the membership plan. The most recent statement shared by Microsoft confirms that Games With Gold will not be scrapped in 2022 and that other rival services offered by the company will continue alongside it unchanged.
This includes Xbox Game Pass, which now has nine new titles confirmed as being released during October 2022. Some of these will be exclusive to the PC platform, revealing some of the things GwG could never do for Microsoft. While Gold offered free titles, it now feels more dated when compared to what’s followed it, with Game Pass able to expand into new markets in a way that indicates how the video game industry has changed and continues to evolve.
The new games coming to Game Pass next month include the following titles: Coral Island, Eville, Dyson Sphere Program, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Norco, Persona 5 Royal, Scorn, Gunfire Reborn, and Signalis.
