The past week was all about hyping upcoming content. The aftermath of Gamescom left some newsworthy stuff like the release date of Halo Infinite and Dying Light coming to the Nintendo Switch. And then there were some welcome Uncharted PC rumors and more about what’s coming in the promised year of 2022.
Halo Infinite finally has a definite release date
The release date is set in stone – hopefully.
After a slew of delays and uncertainties regarding the release of Halo Infinite, December has been finally set in stone. The final release date is just weeks after the Xbox franchise celebrates its 20th anniversary. Infinite will be one of two Microsoft exclusives launching before Christmas as Forza Horizon 5 launches in November.
The release date was announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live, hosted by Geoff Keighley, just 24 hours after Xbox’s own Gamescom conference. Joseph Staten, head of creative at 343 Industries, confirmed both the single-player campaign and the free-to-play multiplayer on December 8th. The original Dying Light is coming to the Nintendo Switch
Running from zombies while running around with the Switch
If you are playing games exclusively on the Nintendo Switch, you are in for a treat as Techland is bringing Dying Light Platinum Edition to the platform. A specific release date has yet to be announced, with Techland saying that “more details are coming soon.” This announcement came at the end of Techland’s “Dying Light 2 Stay Human — Dying 2 Know: Episode 3 Gamescom Edition” presentation at Gamescom.
While most of the video had the spotlight on the sequel, it also made clear that the port will be a full one, as in no compromises. Of course, a slight visual downgrade is somewhat expected but I guess we’ll know more in the near future. Uncharted series reportedly coming to PC
A highly likely rumor, but still a rumor nonetheless
We knew for some time that something regarding the Uncharted series is coming to PC but we didn’t know what. Well, according to rumors, it appears that PC players are in for a real treat with the entire franchise making its transition to the platform. Not much is known but the name Uncharted: The Naughty Dog PC Collection is being thrown around.
The title is a bit suspect but if true, it’s probably named so as to not conflict with previous Uncharted collections already available for the PlayStation. The rumor also mentions a December release date for both Steam and Epic Games Store. Even though Uncharted 4 holds up great in terms of visuals and gameplay, it’s still a fairly old game so selling the entire franchise at $60 makes much more sense.
Metroid Dread has a new action-packed trailer
Gameplay mechanics and returning enemies were shown
Nintendo has dropped Metroid Dread Trailer 2, an action-packed teaser showing dangerous foes. It’s also bursting with clips of a number of new and returning abilities for Samus to make use of like the grapple beam, ice missiles, speed booster, and more.
Along with the heavily armored Chozo Warrior, the trailer also spotlights a massive green boss looking very much like Kraid which would be his first 3D appearance in a mainline Metroid game. This epic new trailer comes alongside the release of Metroid Dread Report Vol. 6 on the official website. The next report will focus on the enigmatic Chozo race. The King of Fighters XV is coming in February 2022
This game promises a huge amount of content
After months of waiting for the release date for The King of Fighters XV, SNK has released a video announcing when the title will be available. The game is set to release on February 17, 2022, with features that are set to be part of the main package.
The game will feature 39 playable characters alongside returning casts from previous games, most notably Team Orochi from The King of Fighters ’97. Not much is told about the plot of the game, but the trailer included two unnamed playable characters that might have involvement in the main story of The King of Fighters XV. Suicide Squad and Gotham Knights showcase coming in October
About time we saw something from DC
DC FanDome is an all-encompassing event about DC properties from various media. Since we’ve had a COVID-induced drought of both DC movies and games for the past year, many are looking forward to the event coming on October 16th. Warner Bros even released a short trailer hyping up the properties that are going to be spotlighted and it seems we’ll finally get to see the delayed Suicide Squad and Gotham Knights games.
While not confirmed, we are fully expecting to see some gameplay since the games have been in the oven for a long time now. After years of waiting, fans definitely wouldn’t react positively to seeing just another CGI trailer that doesn’t represent the real game. If you tune in, expect to also see trailers for the Black Adam and Flash movies which fans have also been eagerly expecting for a long time now.
