IllFonic, the developer behind Friday the 13th: The Game, has today released Ghostbusters: Spirit Unleashed, its latest crack at asymmetrical 4v1 multiplayer action, in which one side plays as a team of Ghostbusters, and one player wreaks havoc as a mischievous spirit.
Announced back in March, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is essentially a game of hide and seek, wherein the Ghostbusters hunt high and low for the Ghost using a PKE Meter, while the solo player aims to evade their Proton Pack streams and capture. Ghostbusters will report to Ray Stantz (Dan Aykroyd) and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) at Ray’s Occult Books and the Firehouse.
The Ghost, meanwhile, can possess objects, frighten citizens, play pranks, and hide in rifts as they strive to stay out of a ghost trap. The game also includes a storyline with online and offline single-player, featuring cutscenes and AI assisted play, as well as cross-play support.
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is out now for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC, priced $39.99/£33.49.
