Many have a soft spot for the Nintendo 64’s GoldenEye 007. But licensing has kept the game away from many more modern players and was a noticeable absence in 2015’s Rare Replay. However, a recent achievement list has implied that the N64 title is coming to Xbox One.
As noted by deals hunter Wario64, achievements for this game popped up on Exophase, a website dedicated to tracking achievements and trophies across multiple gaming platforms. It shows 55 achievements that run the gamut from speedrunning the game to playing various amounts of multiplayer. However, the achievements don’t reveal if this multiplayer is online or local.

Neither Microsoft nor Rare have spoken about any such rerelease, but its inclusion on this site (which also shows that one person is playing it) is quite telling. Recently, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Classic Edition also appeared on Exophase before any official word from Ubisoft. GoldenEye‘s 25th anniversary isn’t until August 2022, but achievements showing up on this kind of site hits at an imminent release.
GoldenEye007 is currently only listed for the Xbox One and not the Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, or any of the various PC platforms Exophase also tracks. It’s possible but unlikely this rerelease would hit those platforms unless their achievement or trophy lists are still in the process of being uploaded. A Switch port is also possible, but hard to decipher from these kinds of sites as the system doesn’t have any form of achievements. Banjo-Kazooie is coming to Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack in January so another Rare game on the Switch isn’t out of the question.

Rare originally developed GoldenEye 007 and released it in 1997 just five years before Microsoft purchased the team. Eurocom created a modern reimagining of the shooter in 2010 for the Wii and then released an enhanced port for the PS3 and Xbox 360 one year later. A remaster of the original game was supposed to come out in 2007 on Xbox Live Arcade, but was canceled. Footage of the unreleased game later leaked online in 2021.
