If you enjoy board games, video games, cosplay, roleplay, or anything that consists of getting together for a night out, the Great Falls Gaming Rendezvous has it all.
This annual event kicked off on Friday and features various events where friends and families can enjoy a day or night together playing various games. This year’s themes is “heroes and villains.”
This is the first time the event has been since Covid, and organizers said they couldn’t wait to get back and invite the community for a fun night out.
Board member Drew Lovek said, “It’s been a long time coming. We are very excited to have people back gaming at tables and experience this with their friends. It has been a trial getting everything back. We are glad to be back, it has been a great experience.”
Great Falls Gaming Rendezvous was founded late one night in March 2012 in a downtown Great Falls diner by four friends. The first event was October 2012, and the small con proved to be a hit. The founders intended GFGR to not only bring gamers, cosplayers, and pop culture geeks together, but to also spread awareness of the things they love, including the arts and sciences.
Today, GFGR is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, with a board of directors, president, and a planning committee (the ConCom). Proceeds from the event go toward the Great Falls Gaming Rendezvous Arts & Sciences Scholarship at the University of Providence in Great Falls and the Sletten Cancer Institute.
Lovek added, “We’ve expanded our game library where you can borrow games from. We have newer titles. Once you have your badge, our game library is free to use, anyone can borrow a game and play it as long as they want.”
The event will continue on Sunday, October 9, from 10:00 a.m. until 6 p.m at the Holiday Inn at 1100 5th Street South
