GTA 6 release date: Big Grand Theft Auto news for PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles | Gaming | Entertainment

Rockstar Games remains muted on its plans to launch new Grand Theft Auto titles on the PS5 and Xbox Series X, past the existing projects that have already been announced.

And while GTA 6 release date news could arrive at any time, the big Grand Theft Auto sequel everybody is waiting for isn’t expected to be revealed for a little while yet.

And even when it is announced, GTA 6 might not arrive until 2022, at the earliest. For now, the development team has only confirmed one major release for the PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles, but there is a potential for more to be revealed.

Parent company, Take-Two Interactive, have confirmed that they will not be making any big announcements on behalf of Rockstar.

But they have provided some interesting insight into some other news, including how much the next Grand Theft Auto game could cost.

As many gamers will already know, prices for base games have stayed pretty standard over the past few years, with most big companies charging around $60.

There are always bigger deluxe editions hitting the market each year, but gamers are usually guaranteed a generic price on most AAA titles.

However, with the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, some companies have looked at changing how much they charge.

This includes Take-Two Interactive, which raised the price on the next-gen version of NBA 2K21.

And since then, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has revealed that this will not be the end of that trend.

Speaking at the Morgan Stanley conference this week, Zelnick revealed that they will not be implementing a price increase across the board.

Instead, things will be done on a case-by-case basis, meaning that we can’t say for sure which titles will be affected.

But with GTA 6 release date hype building even without a solid reveal from Rockstar Games, there’s a chance that it will cost more to buy on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Some products could be affected by a price increase, but something like GTA 6 could probably implement one without risking a massive sales fall.

Zelnick, via Tweak Town, explained the current situation to investors, adding: “In terms of pricing, we announced a $70 price point for NBA 2K21.

“Our view was that we’re offering an extraordinary array of experiences and lots of replayability. The last time there was a frontline price increase in the U.S. was in 2005-2006. So we think consumers were ready for it.

“We haven’t said anything about pricing other titles so far. We tend to make announcements on a title-by-title basis.

“Our view is to always deliver more value than what we charge, to make sure both the experience and paying for the experience are positive for the consumer.

“We all know anecdotally that even if you love a consumer experience, if you feel you were overcharged for it, it ruins the experience and you don’t want to have it again. If you go to a nice restaurant and have a great experience and a great meal, but the check is double what you think it should be, you’re never going back.

“We always want consumers to feel that we deliver much more than we ask in return. That’s true for recurring consumer spending as well. We’re here to activate and engage consumers, and if we do that, monetization follows.”

And if NBA 2K21 offers a lot of replayability and experiences, we can only imagine that GTA 6 would fit nicely into this category too.

On the other hand, Zelnick does also highlight how they don’t want to dampen recurrent spending, meaning they may choose a different pricing scale for Grand Theft Auto titles.

And based on the most recent reports, Take-Two will have plenty of time to make up their minds.

The GTA 6 release date is not expected to be announced for 2021, meaning that the next Grand Theft Auto may not arrive until 2022, or 2023.

By that time, an increase in next-gen games could have become common-place, and might not be seen as an issue for Grand Theft Auto games.
