The company has signed a one-year contract with Jannis Matwin, the two-time winner of the Fortnite Champion Series, to compete under its banner in all upcoming European and international tournaments
PLC () said it signed Jannis Matwin, also known as JannisZ, as the fifth member of its pro Fortnite esports team.
JannisZ is currently ranked third in Europe and is the two-time winner of the Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS), including the tournament’s most recent competition which he won this month alongside teammate and fellow member of the Guild pro squad Henrik Mclean.

Jannis has a social media following of 766,000 and since becoming a competitive player in 2019 has won over US$180,000 in tournament earnings. Guild said it signed a one-year contract with Jannis, with an option to renew for another year. In that time he will compete under the Guild banner in all upcoming European and international Fortnite tournaments, starting with FNCS Chapter 2 Season 6 on April 22.
“We are excited to have JannisZ join Guild, which further strengthens our position as Europe’s most dominant and decorated Fortnite team organisation”, Guild’s executive chairman Carleton Curtis said in a statement.
“At 15, JannisZ has already established himself as one of the world’s best players, and his recent FNCS win demonstrates he’ll stay on top for years to come. He strengthens our already-formidable team, currently ranked No.1 in Europe, and we look forward to working with JannisZ to facilitate his growth as a player and build on his success to date”, he added.
Shares in Guild rose 0.4% to 5.7p in early trading on Wednesday.
