Gulfport native Brittney Reese qualifies for fourth Olympic games

Over the weekend, another track and field star from the Gulf Coast punching her ticket to the 2020 Tokyo Games.

During Saturday’s long jump finals, Brittney Reese won her 13th national title with a jump of 7.13 meters that ranks third in the world and is her personal best since 2017.

That makes Reese just the fourth U.S. long jumper to ever become a four-time Olympian, having won gold in the 2012 London games and silver in the 2016 Rio games.

Reese is a local athlete three times over as a graduate of Gulfport High School, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, and the University of Mississippi.
