Heat Check Gaming Draft Recap 2022

Heat Check Gaming, the Miami Heat NBA 2K League affiliate, participated in the fifth annual NBA 2K League Draft on Saturday, February 26. Coming into the draft, Heat Check had three draft picks to round out their roster for the fifth 2K League season.

Having retained Sav and traded for Bsmoove, Heat Check already had their backcourt settled coming into the draft. With Bsmoove, who is a high-scoring shooting guard, by his side, Sav should build on his impressive first season with Heat Check.

Sav finished second in the league in assists last season. With Choc, the league-leader in assists, retiring, Sav is in line to climb up the leaderboards in his second season with Heat Check.

With the guards squared away, the focus for the draft was strictly on the frontcourt and building a strong defense. Because the guard positions provide most of the scoring in the 2K League, Heat Check needed to go all-in on defense for their three draft selections.

Heat Check Gaming, the Miami Heat NBA 2K League affiliate, participated in the fifth annual NBA 2K League Draft on February 26. Here’s how it went.

Thankfully, that is what they did. With the 11th pick, Heat Check selected DTrick, who was one of the best defensive rookie power forwards in the draft pool.

While power forward is the least valuable offensive position in 2K, it is one of the two most important positions on defense.

For the 16th overall pick, Heat Check doubled down on the big men and selected Sawc, who played for the Gen.G Tigers last season. He should slide into his natural position of center for Heat Check.

While Sawc is not as imposing on the offensive end as what Heat Check has been used to, he provides elite defense. Hotshot, who was Heat Check’s first-ever draft pick, is no longer with the team.

While his offense will be missed, Sawc’s defense will more than makeup for it at the center position. To round out the draft, the folks in South Beach needed a lockdown defender to play small forward.

They found their man at the 26th overall pick. FutureClutch, who played with Magic Gaming last season, is a next-level lockdown defender that should solidify Heat Check’s 5-on-5 roster.

For the Miami Heat affiliate, the draft went about as well as it could have. They knew the offensive side of the ball was taken care of, so they heavily invested on defense in the draft.

That is how rosters should be constructed in the 2K League. With the season starting on Wednesday, April 20, Heat Check will have a little less than two months to build chemistry and make another championship run.
