No. 16 Cypress defeated No. 8 San Juan Hills 29-27 in overtime Friday at San Juan Hills High.

Centurions quarterback Dylan Eldredge threw the go-ahead touchdown pass to Devin Cobb in overtime. Eldredge completed the two-point conversion attempt to Matthew Morrell which ended up being the difference in the game.

Eldredge completed 23 of 35 passes for 253 yards and four touchdowns. Morrell caught 12 passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns.

Cypress (1-1) bounced back from its loss against Foothill last week.

The Centurions will host Western on Friday, Sept. 3.

San Juan Hills (0-2) will host Roosevelt of Eastvale on Friday.

Edison 35, Clovis North 13: Edison (1-1) bounced back from its season-opening loss to Servite and beat Clovis North at Huntington Beach High.

Troy Fletcher rushed for five touchdowns to tie the school record.

The Chargers led 35-0 early in the fourth quarter.

JSerra 20, Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks 0: JSerra shut out Notre Dame to win its first game since Oct.  25, 2019.

It was also the first win for the Lions under coach Scott McKnight.

Zach Pua ran for a 76-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter for JSerra (1-1) and Dylan Mills threw for 196 yards with a touchdown.

The JSerra (1-1) defense held Notre Dame to 99 yards of total offense.

Yorba Linda 56, Valencia 7: Yorba Linda (2-0) scored early and often in the game at Yorba Linda High.

Mustangs quarterback Reyn Beal completed eight of nine passes for 169 yards with three touchdowns. Chase Jones caught two passes for 51 yards and both catches were for touchdowns.

Garrett Gonzales had a touchdown catch and Tyler Kovalcin rushed for a touchdown. JT Conrad had 43 yards receiving and forced a safety on defense.

Corona del Mar 56, Paramount 8: Corona del Mar (2-0) had a dominant first quarter in a blowout win at Newport Harbor High.

Junior quarterback David Rasor threw for 134 yards and five touchdowns, all in the first quarter before leaving the game in the second. John Tipton had three touchdown receptions and 43 yards.

Sophomore running back Colin Pene rushed for 71 yards in the first half and had a rushing touchdown.

Aliso Niguel 39, San Gorgonio 0: Aliso Niguel was dominant on both sides of the ball in a win against San Gorgonio.

The Wolverines ran for three touchdowns, passed for a touchdown, had a safety and scored a special teams touchdown. It was the first shutout win for Aliso Niguel (2-0) since 2017.

Quarterback Shaun McCaghren ran for a touchdown and threw a touchdown to Justin Zeppa. Chase Christner and Jack Gill each ran for touchdowns for the Wolverines.

Trabuco Hills 28, Katella 0: Trabuco Hills (1-0) quarterback Will Burns was very efficient in a win over Katella at Trabuco Hills High.

Burns, a transfer from Mission Viejo, completed 15 of 21 passes for 258 yards and three touchdowns. Chris Padilla led the Mustangs receivers with eight catches for 132 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Baseball standout Drew Barrett rushed for 103 yards on 21 carries.

Chaparral 19, Tesoro 16 (OT): Tesoro fell to Chaparral of Temecula in overtime at Tesoro High.

Titans quarterback Gavin Shaigineik threw for 171 yards and a touchdown. Ryan Smaldino had a touchdown reception and Kyler Bock led the Titans in receiving with six catches and 60 yards.

Mikey D’Amato stood out defensively for Tesoro (1-1) with a team-high 12 tackles and an interception.

Tesoro will hope to bounce back when it hosts Vista Murrieta on Friday.

El Dorado 21, Fountain Valley 6: El Dorado continued its hot start with a win over Fountain Valley at Ocean View High.

El Dorado has won its first two games of a season for the first time since 1999.

Blake Thomas threw a 51-yard touchdown pass to Gaven Rivera to start the scoring for El Dorado.

Erik Martinson rushed for two touchdowns (1 and 24 yards) for the Golden Hawks.

Ben Pham ran for the lone touchdown for Fountain Valley (1-1) in the first half.

Dana Hills 35, Laguna Beach 7: Dana Hills (1-0) scored five touchdowns in the first half and went on to earn their first win under coach Tony Henney.

Bo Kelly threw for 284 yards and four touchdowns for the Dolphins.

Omarjaye Black caught two touchdowns. James Allemann and Owen Chambers each caught one. Christian Guarascio rushed for a touchdown after a big passing play to Allemann.

Dana Hills will play Trabuco Hills next week. Henney won a CIF championship in 2014 at Trabuco Hills.
