The annual Hoops for Autism All-Star Games are today at Spring Hill High School in Longview, with the girls’ game scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m., and the boys will follow, around 7.
The proceeds from the game, which features area high school seniors, will go to the Center for Autism in Dallas.
Autism is a disorder normally diagnosed early in life that affects a child’s development, including social interaction, and normally accompanied with repetitive behavior.
Senior all-stars from the Kilgore News Herald’s coverage area playing in the girls game are Kilgore’s Miah Thomas (South) and Sabine’s Blaire Kaufman (North).
Boys all-stars from the News Herald’s coverage area in their all-star game are Kilgore’s Isaac Hoberecht (South) and Sabine’s David Robinson (North).
Jeff Coleman, Kilgore’s head boys basketball coach, and T.J. Gillen-Hall, his assistant, will coach the South All-Stars, and Pine Tree’s Brandon Shaver and Justin Hales will coach the North. For the girls, Winnsboro’s Robert Cochran and Ken Sanders will coach the South, and Spring Hill’s coaches, Dee Lewis, Johnaton Ladd and Ashton Schave, will coach the North.
