Bungie is letting everyone play Destiny 2 DLC for free this week, and Guardians want to know how long they have left to enjoy it all.
While Destiny 2 can be downloaded for free, much of what makes the game popular is found in the paid expansions.
And with Season 18 now underway, gamers have the best chance they’ve had in a long time to experience Destiny 2 to its fullest.

How Long Is Destiny 2 DLC Free?
Bungie has confirmed that all current Destiny 2 story campaigns are free to play this week without charge until Tuesday, August 30.
That doesn’t mean that everything ever made for the game is available to play right now, but you can experience Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, and The Witch Queen until the weekly reset.
And if Bungie sticks to its usual routine, all the current free Destiny 2 DLC will revert back to normal at 6pm BST, on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. That gives gamers the whole weekend and a little extra to download and start playing through the current Destiny 2 story campaign experience.
Part of the game will remain locked during this period, including the current Season Pass, the Dungeon Key, the Forsaken Content Pack, and the 30th Anniversary Pack. A message from Bungie adds:
“From today until August 30, all the current Destiny 2 story campaigns – Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, and The Witch Queen – and their associated quests and content will be available to all players for free. It doesn’t matter if you play on Xbox, PlayStation, Stadia, or PC; you will have access to some of the best content Destiny 2 has to offer. To be 100% clear, this doesn’t mean all Destiny 2 content is available for no cost.”
Bungie has not shared any plans to bring back this particular deal, meaning that this might be your only chance to play through the current story campaign content without spending a penny. One other announcement made by the company this week is that the controversial practice of sunsetting content to the Destiny Vault is changing, and Bungie has confirmed that Seasonal content will continue to stay throughout the current expansion year and then move to the Destiny Content Vault when a new Expansion launches.
