We have a clash between FPS titans Call of Duty: Vanguard and Battlefield 2042 in first person shooters. Despite the fact that both games are regularly pitted against one another each year, Call of Duty: Vanguard and Battlefield 2042 are worlds apart. For example, Call of Duty: Vanguard is set during World War II and includes a storyline that delves into the beginnings of the Special Forces. Fast-paced bouts with smaller teams are more common in multiplayer.
In addition to these two blockbuster shooters is another massive release. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, a remaster of three classic GTA titles: Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City and San Andreas. Each game still retains its classic feel although the graphics have been updated and the controls modernized.
On the flip side, Battlefield 2042 is set in the near future with the world ravaged by global warming, collapsed economies and broken alliances. There’s no story campaign as DICE opted to focused solely on multiplayer. And what we have is the biggest and most robust multiplayer suite we’ve ever had in a Battlefield game. There are three core multiplayer experiences: All-Out Warfare (comprised of Conquest and Breakthrough modes), Battlefield Portal (a multiplayer sandbox), and Hazard Zone (a high-stakes mode that involves capturing intel and extracting it). It’s worth noting that Battlefield 2042 on next-gen also supports up to 128 players in Conquest and Breakthrough.
Some other notable releases include the PS5 version of Knockout City, which is a free upgrade if you already own the PS4 version. Knockout City is also going to be free for PS Plus members in November. The Anniversary Edition of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is coming if you happen to be the last person on the planet who still hasn’t played this RPG. And lastly, Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, the next expansion for the long-running MMORPG.
