MultiVersus recently became playable for everyone via its Open Beta. The available characters right now are Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, Arya Stark, Finn the Human, Jake the Dog, Garnet, Steven Universe, Shaggy, Velma, Tom & Jerry, the Iron Giant and LeBron James. The MultiVersus Open Beta can be accessed on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox X/S and the PC.
Throughout the PlayStation 5’s lifespan so far, we’ve seen that Sony’s newest console boasts a ridiculous amount of input lag, which isn’t really ideal for playing fighting games. Oddly enough, the PlayStation 5 often has more input lag than even the PlayStation 4. However, Nigel “Noodalls” Woodall, an input latency tester within the fighting game community, recently released his findings for latency testing of MultiVersus on the PlayStation 5, and the results were very interesting.
According to Noodalls, MultiVersus on the PlayStation 5 averaged at about 31.47 ms of input delay. This was apparently tested 65 times with 1080 resolution.
Of course, input latency typically isn’t consistent. During his 65 tests, Noodalls was able to achieve 23.17 ms at the minimum and 39.43 ms at the maximum. Indeed, there’s a range of about 16.26 ms present in these tests.
For context, one frame in a game that runs at 60 frames per second is measured at about 16.667 ms. Put simply, MultiVersus on the PlayStation 5 has roughly two frames of input delay, which is extremely low.
Comparably, the latency of MultiVersus on the PlayStation 5 is notably lower than the PlayStation 5 emulating the PlayStation 4 version of MultiVersus, and the Xbox Series X/S versions of MultiVersus. As of right now, measurements of the PC version of MultiVersus have not yet been released, though this version to have even less input lag than the PlayStation 5.

XSX Inputlag testing
Note – not actually that interested in 720p as it’s about the same. More that XSX defaulted to that initially so I checked that my testing software would be ok with it. pic.twitter.com/2WEql8mJsl
