The Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 beta is out today for PS4, PS5, Xbox, and PC, but it is only free for PlayStation users as the open CoD MW2 demo for all Microsoft players doesn’t start for another couple of days.
Although many seemed to enjoy Activision’s forthcoming game, the reception from the opening weekend on PlayStation was partially divisive. The game looks absolutely incredible, but there are some complaints about changes, and fans have provided feedback on Reddit about the Dead Silence perk and mini map.
Xbox and PC users who have pre-ordered the game can start playing today, but everyone else will need to wait slightly longer.

Is the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 beta free?
The Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 beta is free for all PS4 and PS5 players on September 22nd, but it is only available to Xbox and PC users who have pre-ordered the game.
This is because the open demo for all Microsoft loyalists and computer users doesn’t start until September 24th. The only way to play today on Xbox and PC is by pre-ordering any edition be it Cross-Gen or Vault.
You could technically cancel your pre-order if you don’t enjoy the playtest, but it might be better to just wait a couple of days to play absolutely free if you’re not fully convinced by this year’s Call of Duty. However, if you wait until September 24th, you will only have two days to enjoy the multiplayer as playtests completely finish on September 26th.
