It’s the last day of the month (February’s twenty-eight days caught us out), which means a few games are leaving the Game Pass service. As minor compensation, we get one new game in return.
So, leaving the service are Hypnospace Outlaw (Cloud, Console and PC), Killer Queen Black (Cloud and Console), Stealth Inc. 2 (Cloud and Console), and Touhou Luna Nights (Cloud, Console and PC). Arriving onto Game Pass is Alice: Madness Returns (PC).
Alice: Madness Returns has been on Console Game Pass for some time now, thanks to the deal that brought EA Play titles to the service. But now it’s the turn of PC players to give its macabre charms a go. If you haven’t played it yet, it’s a fever dream from celebrated designer American McGee, and it puts you in the shoes of Alice as she returns to Wonderland to bring sanity back to both it and herself. With her trusty vorpal blade, she descends into the rabbithole and confronts a fantasy land that has twisted and contorted itself into some horrific shapes.
The games leaving Game Pass are all relatively small indie titles, so might not seem like big losses, but we liked them all independently.
Hypnospace Outlaw is a bonkers dreamscape that we gave 4.5/5 to, saying it “is so wonderfully put together, it’s hard to imagine anyone it wouldn’t make an impact on”. Killer Queen Black is an esport friendly party game that we handed a 3.5/5 to, saying “there are serious hours of fun to be had with a competitive or casual title that can easily be played in short bursts”, while Touhou Luna Nights got a 4/5 for being “fun and a decent challenge”. Stealth Inc. 2 gathered up a tasty review too.
If you were partway through any of these games, they are still available at a reduced price for Game Pass subscribers. Now might be the time to pick them up.
What’s planned for Game Pass in March? Xbox tend to announce more games around this time, but we haven’t heard much that could be considered official. FAR: Changing Tides is due out on Game Pass on the 1st March, with Titanfall looking to leave the service on the same day. Shredders, a snowboarding game, is planned to land on March 17th, while A Memoir Blue, a release from Annapurna Interactive, will be coming on March 24th. There’s Crusader Kings III for console on March 29th and Weird West on March 31st. Other than that, your guess is as good as ours!
