The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were among members of the Royal Family who gathered on Tuesday for a service of thanksgiving, honouring the life of the Queen’s late husband the Duke of Edinburgh. William, 39, and Kate, 40, escorted their two eldest children into the Abbey for the service.
Kate wore a beautiful black and white polka dot dress by Alessandra Rich.
To accessorise, she wore a textured wide-brimmed black hat finished with a white bow by Lock & Co.
The Duchess also wore Collingwood Pearl and Diamond Earrings which once belonged to Princess Diana, honouring her late mother-in-law.
Kate’s appearance sparked comparisons to the late Princess whose jewellery she was sporting.
Some royal fans pointed out that the belted drop-waist dress and structured hat were reminiscent of styles worn by Princess Diana in the 1980s
The user, called Cat, wrote: “The whole family looks wonderful, and I just said somewhere else that this is the first time an outfit of Catherine’s really gave me vibes of Princess Diana. Maybe it was the hat!”
Another added: “Kate channelling Princess Diana… she’s wearing something Dianna would have totally worn in the 80s or 90s & probs there’s a photo of Diana wearing similar.”
A third described the outfit as a “flashback to nostalgia” adding: “I am obsessed with Kate’s look today at the church service for the Duke of Edinburgh.”

A fourth swooned: “Kate Middleton looks like she was wearing Princess Diana’s old dress & hat. It looks like something Diana would have wore. It looks very 80’s.”
A fifth chimed in to add: “Catherine reminded me very much of Diana’s style today. She is glowing.”
Kate’s outfit bears resemblance to a look worn by Princess Diana at Ascot in June 1988.
Much like Kate, Diana sported a black and white polka dot dress with a large-brimmed hat, by Victor Edelstein and Philip Somerville respectively.
Her ensemble was accessorised with a black and white purse, a pearl necklace and pearl earrings.
The Cambridges were among an 1,800 strong congregation who attended the service to pay tribute to Prince Philip.
Recognition was given to the over 700 charitable organisations he supported throughout his life and his royal service whereby he acted as the Queen’s consort through their 73 years of marriage.
Doyin Sonibare, who holds a Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards, gave a Tribute to the Duke’s legacy, recognising the impact of the Award on young people across the globe.
Members of the British Royal Family were also joined by European royals and representatives from the Armed Forces, the Government and Prince Philip’s many charities.
The Queen made an appearance despite recent concerns about her mobility.
The memorial marked the first large-scale event the monarch has attended this year.
She recently pulled out of attending the Commonwealth Day service, for reasons said to be related to her comfort.
Prince George, eight, and Princess Charlotte, six, greeted and shook hands with officials at the event such as the Archbishop of Canterbury before the family all took their seats.
Prince George wore a navy suit and tie, while his younger sister Charlotte opted for a dark blue coat and tights.
For the occasion, Prince William, like his son, also wore a navy suit and tie.
