Brannock High’s Concordia team won the Rocket League competition

“Most of the schools didn’t have adequate gaming facilities so pupils would go home to their own setups to take part in the tournament.

“This is the first time eSports has been used like this in North Lanarkshire schools and it was such a success.”

The winning team of the Fortnite competition was Coltness High School’s ‘Gaming Gang’, which consisted of Joshua Ogilvie, Mark Bett and Adam Stapleton.

And the winner of the Rocket League tournament was Brannock High’s team ‘Concordia’, which consisted of Alexander Lambie, Ben Deavy and Liam McMahon.

The tournament was sponsored by gaming equipment company HyperX which provided headsets for the winners. The winning schools also received a trophy for their triumphs.

Emma said: “With the tournament being such a success, I would love to make it an annual event.

“I’m looking at getting some more sponsors and maybe more games on offer so that more people will want to take part.

“I want to really thank the schools and the teachers who volunteered their time to help make it so fun.”
