LEGION BASEBALL: Marshall splits pair of games at Upper Midwest Classic | News, Sports, Jobs

NEW ULM — The Marshall Legion baseball team split a pair of games in the Upper Midwest Classic tournament on Friday, defeating Plover (Wis.) 12-4 before falling to the Mankato Nationals 6-3.

Against Plover, Brock Schultz led Marshall with three hits and three RBI while Charlie Jacobson added two hits and two RBI, Tyler Maeyaert and Chase Douglas had two hits and an RBI each and Connor Neubeck had a hit and two RBI.

Jacobson earned the victory on the mound, going three innings while allowing three runs on two hits and struck out six.

Against the Mankato Nationals, Jacobson led Marshall with a hit and two RBI while Jacob Hughes, Schultz, Maeyaert and Douglas had a hit each.

Maeyaert took the loss on the mound, going seven innings while allowing six runs on eight hits and struck out three.

Marshall (5-3) will continue tournament play today and face Eastview at 12:30 p.m. at Mueller Park in New Ulm.
