Disney D23 has hosted its first-ever gaming showcase today, and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which has been on the shelves for several months now, was part of the presentation.
Fans took notice of a Disney D23 press release when “new reveals” were promised for LEGO Star Wars and several other titles set to be shown at the Marvel and Disney Games Showcase presentation. Today, the panel revealed new looks at video game adaptations using intellectual property from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and Fox brands, including Disney Mirrorverse, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Avatar: Reckoning, Aliens: Dark Descent, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Marvel Snap, Disney Speedstorm, Return to Monkey Island, Marvel Strike Force, along with the newly-revealed Tron: Identity, Disney Illusion Island, Gargoyles Remastered, Marvel: World of Heroes, and an untitled Marvel game starring Captain America and Black Panther.
LEGO Star Wars fans received news that the biggest, most comprehensive experience in the franchise is about to get bigger and more comprehensive. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga – Galactic Edition is officially on the horizon, and the title is set to have everything that the original game had to offer and more, with a total of six new DLC character packs on top of the seven available at launch. Here’s what panel host Blessing Adeoye Jr. had to say about the game:
“LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga destroyed sales records like rebels taking out Death Stars. If you haven’t picked it up yet, or you’ve already blown up all the Death Stars too, here’s another reason to jump into the Skywalker Saga: new characters – including Cassian Andor, Reva, Captain Rex, and more – are coming to LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga soon. Take on even more stormtroopers, wield a lightsaber or the Force, party your way through the galaxy, and get ready to expand your character collection.”
Promotional images from Traveller’s Tales indicate that the six new character packs will be based on Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Clone Wars, Rebels, The Book of Boba Fett, and the recent Summer Vacation special:
With this promotional image, it appears that players who have already purchased the game will be able to pay for and download these characters as they become available, with the Galactic Edition likely coming bundled with these character packs and the original seven (based on The Mandalorian, The Bad Batch, Rogue One, and Solo, with additional packs based around Stormtroopers and classic versions of LEGO characters). Based on what has been described, it does not seem likely that the Galactic Edition will have new levels, although no statement has been given by developer TT Games about what features that version of the game will have aside from the 13 character packs, along with the Classic Obi-Wan Kenobi character that was only available for the digital edition:
The Galactic Edition includes 6 new packs in Character Collection 2, plus the 7 original packs from Character Collection 1. Players that purchase the game digitally can also unlock the Classic Obi-Wan Kenobi™ playable character that is not available for purchase à la carte. pic.twitter.com/cSLpOKR5Vs
