While no further copies of the game and no future expansion packs were developed, the game and all previously released compatible figures still work. Following its discontinuation, LEGO Dimensions joined a long list of canceled toys-to-life video games, such as Disney Infinity. Besides Skylanders, one of the most prominent ongoing toys-to-life series is Nintendo’s Amiibo, which recently announced a Zelda & Loftwing figurine, which will be compatible with the upcoming remaster The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD.

A Twitter user theorized about the colored studs, saying, “yellow/cyan/magenta were the colours used to denote moving the figures to another part of the base which was a big part of LEGO Dimensions, and the series 2 bases were orange.” The LEGO Twitter account responded, “Stay tuned for more info to be revealed soon.” This prompted many fans to speculate that LEGO may be teasing LEGO Dimensions 2. — LEGO (@LEGO_Group) May 28, 2021
