You’ll soon be able to take Dontnod’s newest adventure with you on the go: a Life is Strange: True Colors Nintendo Switch release was rated by the ESRB, making it the first game in the franchise to come to Nintendo’s hybrid handheld console.
Life is Strange: True Colors is the third core game in the Life is Strange franchise. As usual, the protagonist Alex Chen has an otherworldly superpower that helps her navigate the world and uncover a grand mystery; in this case, she has the ability to see people’s auras and reveal their emotions.
We had already known that Life is Strange: True Colors was coming to PC and consoles when it was leaked slightly ahead of its official announcement earlier this month (and followed by the surprising announcement of Life is Strange: Remastered). The future is looking pretty bright for Dontnod Entertainment, too — it’s planning on releasing 5 self-published titles over the next several years. Now, it looks like it’s going to be launching on the Nintendo Switch, too.
The ESRB rating page for Life is Strange: True Colors (via Ryan Brown and Nintendo Everything) notes that the game is coming to the Nintendo Switch alongside PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Google Stadia. That’s pretty much the closest we’re getting to hard confirmation of a Nintendo Switch release, although it also raises a number of questions about the Life is Strange: True Colors Nintendo Switch release.
When is the Life is Strange: True Colors Nintendo Switch Release Date?
We don’t yet know the Life is Strange: True Colors Nintendo Switch release date. The game is expected to launch on September 10, 2021, for PC and consoles, but past experience tells us that the Nintendo Switch edition might not launch at the same time.
Countless other games — most recently Apex Legends and Haven — got a Nintendo Switch release months or even years after the game first made its debut on other platforms. The lower processing and graphical power of the Nintendo Switch can prove to be a challenge for developers, so there’s a very real possibility that the Life is Strange: True Colors Nintendo Switch release date will be later than the other platforms. Dontnod has not yet made any official announcement on this edition.
For now, you can pre-order Life is Strange: True Colors or add it to your wishlist on Steam; do note that pre-ordering the Ultimate Edition will also secure you a copy of Life is Strange Remastered Collection.
