Little Devil Inside still missing in action ahead of 2022 release date

Little Devil Inside is an upcoming PS5 and PS4 indie that has much anticipation building around it ahead of its supposed release in 2022. However, since release date rumours and official release windows, we haven’t seen anything.

Little Devil Inside is supposed to be coming in 2022, but the highly-anticipated PlayStation indie is missing from the PS5 and PS4 lineup this winter. The action-adventure game has been in development since before a successful May 2015 Kickstarter by developer NeoStream.

Little Devil Inside is running onto PS5… sometime?

PS5 and PS4’s mostly hotly anticipated indie is missing on a release date adventure

The adventure game has a unique art style that grabbed attention from its first PlayStation showing as one of the first PS5 confirmed games. From there, the bizarre Russian doll characters and strange RTS and third-person action phases drew attention at a State of Play, which it followed up with a gameplay trailer. When a release date was found in the PSN backend, the long-in-development game appeared to finally be near. Since news of the Winter 2022 release window was found on the backend, we have had nothing: no news, no development updates, and no State of Play outings.

However, this isn’t the first time Little Devil Inside developers haven’t really updated information about its pre-existing and announced plans. The Kickstarter project came to pass with a promise of a PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U release, only to become a PlayStation timed console exclusive with a PC release after the project has been backed for other platforms (something NeoStream acknowledged later). It blew by its first release window of 2016 as the project become much bigger. Its second release window was said to be 2018 in an early trailer… which came and went with no real acknowledgement of the promising project.

Don’t worry, this steampunk neo-Victorian world full of voyaging and adventure shouldn’t be an Abandoned vapourware project — the word for a non-existent game advertised to collect money with no intention of releasing. The high-quality trailers, years of Kickstarter updates, and obvious bespoke textures and character models should allay your fears there. However, it’s a bit odd that we are now approaching the end of 2022 and might not even hear word of a delay.

Indeed, for us on the TrueTrophies news team, it remains one of the most promising indies for PS5. That joyous sense of adventure derived from old-school travel novels and newspapers strikes a sense of childish wonder in us, and we love those odd callbacks to woodcut image dioramas of foreign landscapes. I wrote a pretty good essay on those woodcuts back in the day, but that’s neither here nor there! Check out our article on the missing Witcher games, too! Excited as we are? Concerned about the release date? Let us know in the comments!
