Lost Soul Aside PS5 Release Officially Confirmed

Sony officially revealed that UltiZero Games’ Lost Soul Aside will be making it to the PS5. This was at the company’s China-focussed conference which also had it announce the PS5 China launch as well. Sony revealed these details after Lost Soul Aside’s stunning re-reveal trailer was made public. At the time IGN India reported that the game would be coming to the PS5.

Lost Soul Aside is slated for the PS4, PS5, and PC. Don’t expect an Xbox Series X or S release for the first 12 months at least due to Sony’s involvement in publishing the game.

If you’re wondering how and why PlayStation got involved with Lost Soul Aside, we asked Niko Partners Senior Analyst Daniel Ahmad. Niko Partners is one of the few firms that tracks the Chinese video game market.

“Consoles were banned in China between 2000 and 2014, which meant that most Chinese game developers focused on PC and mobile game development during this time,” he says. “PlayStation created the China Hero Project in 2016 as a way to support Chinese game developers and bring more local games to its platform in China.

The project provides developers with funding and support from PlayStation and its partners to help them develop and release the game worldwide. This not only helps PlayStation appeal to Chinese gamers in Mainland China, but also brings unique Chinese developed titles to a global audience. There are currently 14 games enrolled in the project, with a few such as Anna: Mutationem and Project Boundary set to release this year.”

Lost Soul Aside, along with other recently announced titles such as Bright Memory: Infinite and Black Myth: Wu Kong, shows what Chinese indie devs can bring to the table in regards to AAA console and PC titles.”

It will be interesting to see if Sony decides to support developers in other markets like India. It had in the past with a slew of PS2, PS3, and PSP games though it wasn’t without some major concerns.
