Marvel’s Avengers Adds Captain America’s Winter Soldier-Era MCU Costume

Another one of Captain America’s Marvel Cinematic Universe costumes has been added to the video game Marvel’s Avengers.

The suit Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers wore in the 2014 Marvel Studios film Captain America: The Winter Soldier is available on Marvel’s Avengers‘ in-game Marketplace as of Thursday, Aug. 25. The game’s official Twitter account made the announcement with the quote “On your left,” which Steve famously (and repeatedly) said to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson in The Winter Soldier‘s opening minutes. Sam eventually returned the favor in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame.

Of course, the Winter Soldier skin is not Cap’s first movie-inspired suit to make its way to Marvel’s Avengers. After all, Steve Rogers wore many different iterations of his iconic costume during his time in the MCU. Since its launch, Marvel’s Avengers has also added Captain America skins inspired by such Marvel Studios films as Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Avengers: Infinity War and the aforementioned Endgame.

In fact, despite being set in its own universe, the video game has added numerous MCU-inspired skins across its roster of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Most recently, developer Crystal Dynamics gave Jane Foster/Mighty Thor a skin inspired by her appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder, Marvel Studios’ most recent feature film.

Get Ready for Action

Speaking of the Winter Soldier, Crystal Dynamics also recently announced that Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier would indeed be Marvel’s Avengers‘ next playable hero. “As a result of the events of No Rest for the Wicked and Cloning Lab, James Buchanan ‘Bucky’ Barnes, the Winter Soldier, will rejoin his former allies and his mentor Steve Rogers,” the developer explained. “A hybrid brawler and marksman Hero, the Winter Soldier will add yet another way to be heroic in Marvel’s Avengers.” Cap’s former sidekick joins a stacked roster that not only includes Cap himself and the aforementioned Mighty Thor, but also the likes of Black Panther, Black Widow, Hawkeye (Clint Barton), Hawkeye (Kate Bishop), Hulk, Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man (on the PlayStation 4 only) and Thor Odinson.

Developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix Europe, Marvel’s Avengers is available now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Microsoft Windows and Google Stadia.
