It has barely been one month since Marvel’s Midnight Suns was delayed from late 2022 to early 2023, and in just a matter of weeks, plans have changed again. Now, following the D23 expo, the game is scheduled to launch in early December.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is now releasing on the 2nd of December – but only for PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5. The versions planned for Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch are still delayed and we have no further information on their release at this time.
This news came as quite the surprise, as in early August, 2K and Firaxis announced that Midnight Suns would arrive in early 2023 for current-gen platforms. Now, the game will release this year, but those who primarily game on an Xbox One, PS4 or Switch will be left behind for an undisclosed amount of time.
While there are no updates on the Xbox One, PS4 or Switch versions of the game, they have not been cancelled… at least not yet. The development team has reportedly been encountering technical issues and as we saw with Cyberpunk 2077, those issues can take a very long time to fix, especially for outdated hardware.
KitGuru Says: Following this game has been quite the rollercoaster. Initially, it was billed as XCOM with superheroes, but then it ended up being more of a card-based strategy game with JRPG-inspired social elements. Since then, the game has had a number of delays and the future of the Switch, PS4 and Xbox versions is uncertain. Still, with the Marvel name attached, the game should still be able to make some noise this holiday season, just as long as it isn’t hindered by bugs.
