Material Ultimania English release date set for December

Square Enix Books & Manga has announced that it will publish the book Final Fantasy VII Remake: Material Ultimania in English with a release date of Dec. 7, 2021. It will be 336 pages and retail in hardcover for $39.99 or digitally for $25.99 at sellers like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and the Square Enix Store. The book contains “comprehensive collection of production and CG art assets (for Final Fantasy VII Remake), including character models and illustrations, locations and backgrounds, accessories, weapons, enemies, and more, all accompanied by staff commentary.” Q&A interviews with Japanese voice actors, cutscene storyboards, “detailed” costume references, and song liner notes from the sound staff are all included as well.

Of course, Final Fantasy VII Remake is not available on Nintendo Switch. But we do have the original game, plus Cloud and Sephiroth in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, so we figured plenty of enthusiasts would still be interested in Final Fantasy VII Remake: Material Ultimania.

Square has been releasing “Ultimania” books for its games for over two decades now, having sold millions of copies and providing (mostly Japanese, for several years) fans with in-depth looks at their favorite games. Square Enix has gotten more invested in book publishing in recent years though, having partnered with Penguin Books in 2019.

Let us know if you can wait all the way till December for the release date of Final Fantasy VII Remake: Material Ultimania.
