Michigan commercial and tribal internet casino gaming and online sports betting operators reported $134 million in combined total gross internet gaming receipts and gross internet sports betting receipts for Oct., according to the Michigan Gaming Control Board.
The Gaming Control Board says October results were 6.3% higher than September’s results.
They say commercial and tribal operators’ internet gaming gross receipts for Oct. totaled a Michigan record $109.7 million, which exceeds the previous state gross receipts record of $102.4 million set in Sept.
Additionally. gross internet sports betting receipts for Oct. were $24.3 million, and the total internet sports betting handle was a Michigan record of $463.3 million, which surpasses the previous state record of $359.5 million set in March.
It is also 30.8% higher than Sept. results.
The Board states combined total adjusted gross receipts and adjusted gross sports betting receipts were $103.6 million in Oct. It included $98.9 million for internet casino gaming and $4.7 million for internet sports betting.
However, it is important to note that adjusted gross receipts include deductions for the monetary value of free play incentives provided to and wagered by bettors.
Additionally, the operators generated $20.8 million in taxes and payments to the State of Michigan. This includes $20.3 million from internet gaming state taxes and payments, and $552,907 from internet sports betting state taxes and payments.
According to the Michigan Gaming Control Board, for internet sports betting, commercial operators pay 70% of the 8.4% tax to the state and 30% to the city of Detroit.
Additionally, the board says three Detroit casinos reported city wagering taxes and municipal services fees of $5.9 million. This includes $5.5 million from internet gaming taxes and fees, and $354,113 from internet sports betting taxes and fees.
Furthermore, the Michigan Gaming Control Board says tribal operators make an 8.4% payment to the state on adjusted gross sports betting receipts.
They say tribal operators reported $2.3 million in wagering payments to the tribes’ governing bodies.
According to the Board, from the Jan. 22 launch through Oct. 31, aggregate internet casino gaming adjusted gross receipts totaled $797.5 million and aggregate internet sports betting adjusted gross sports betting receipts were $65.2 million.
